FMMS Onkomedikus Medical practice was founded by Mirjana Durbaba, MD PhD, in 2001. All activities of the practice are based on the knowledge and expertise of Mirjana Durbaba MD PhD, a radiologist/radiation oncologist with 30 years' experience.
Radiotherapy (Radiation Oncology) is the branch of clinical medicine that uses ionizing radiation, either alone or in combination with other modalities (surgery, chemotherapy and/or hormonal therapy) as an integral part of the multidisciplinary management of patients.
- Specialists in radiotherapy/radiation oncology are able, either independently, or as a responsible member of a (multidisciplinary) team, to recognize the symptoms and signs of cancer;

Make or perform a diagnostic program and/or procedures for suspected tumors or metastases and perform staging and classification of manifest tumors;

Perform prognostic assessment, define treatment aims, choose optimal treatment modality (radiation, surgery/radiation, chemotherapy/radiation, hormonal therapy/radiation or combinations of modalities in adjuvant, neoadjuvant, sequential or concomitant settings);

Plan and apply radiation therapy and follow up during and after treatment ;

Perform supportive care / symptomatic treatment and terminal care;

Diagnose, evaluate and treat side effects of radiation therapy;

Assess the impact of radiation on the quality of life;

Communicate adequately and accurately with cancer patients and to their families;

Manage common psychological reactions to crises and final stages of life;

Practice medicine in accordance with medical ethics and patient rights.

Specialists in radiotherapy /radiation oncology must have a knowledge of the epidemiology of cancer, cancer prevention, screening, early detection of tumors and education of the public. Radiotherapists should be educated in and thoroughly familiar with tumor pathology, cytology and tumor classification.
